FREIGHT RAIL PREPARES FOR NEXT ROUND OF LABOR NEGOTIATIONS
The nation’s major freight railroads are preparing to begin the next round of labor negotiations, which will start on Nov. 1, 2019. Collective bargaining between railroads and labor unions is governed by the Railway Labor Act and can take up to two or more years. The industry has initiated legal action in federal court to confirm the right to negotiate about train crew staffing.
